I forgot how much I like this series since it’s been over a year and a half since I read the last book. And unlike with the last book in the series, I “felt” the romance between the characters a lot this time.

Mary, the heroine, is a pretty Type A personality. She is also caring, pragmatic, and fiercely loyal. The hero, Glen, is more of a free-spirit. He loves life, loves his job, and is also fiercely loyal. As much as Mary would love to, she cannot deny the chemistry they have when they are in the same room so she agrees to a date with Glen…although they live on opposite coasts.

The romance portion of this story is very sweet and reads like a fairytale. After all, Glen is pretty well off as well as an owner in a charter private flight company. But the other aspect of this story is the danger Mary finds herself in from an unknown stalker. I found myself second guessing my initial thought on who the stalker was, but it was fun to be led a couple different directions. The fact that Mary and Glen have known each other, albeit not well, for a year and the intense feelings that come with being threatened and stalked helped the rapid pace of the romance to make sense.

Something that bothered me in the story had to do with a gun. Mary decides she wants to get a gun and nobody talks to her about this. Glen has mixed feelings, but doesn’t suggest she go to a gun safety course or at the very least go to a shooting range to get the feel for the gun. And even worse, the detective on her case doesn’t either! It is irresponsible to own a gun and not know how to use it, anyone in law enforcement will agree with this. It bothered me that this wasn’t discussed in a different fashion.

I do really enjoy this series and really need to check out another Catherine Bybee’s series to see if her other stories are as good as this one. Especially since I don’t see anything on if there will be another book in this series.

About Cheri

I'm the mom of two boys and wife to my high school sweetheart. Our oldest, Josh, is living at home while working and paying off student loans. Our youngest, Griffin recently left his active duty Army job and is now National Guard here at home. He moved back to Michigan with his wife Kirsten and our beautiful granddaughter Hazel. I work part time and try to fit as much reading into my life as possible.
