So it’s pretty much all I read in April

I knew my reading had tapered off in April, I just didn’t realize how much.  Part of it was how busy I was.  Another part was the weather changing and us finding more outdoor things to do that didn’t include sitting in a hammock reading.

My favorite book this month was written by Melissa Foster.  I’m sure I said it before, but I always pre-order her Love in Bloom books.  I love them!

I actually had a month full of good books in April with quite a few new-to-me authors.  Some of my other favorites were The Last Good Cowboy by Kate Pearce as well as a compilation she was part of, Happy is the Bride.  One of the new-to-me authors wrote another of my favorites, Eight Days in the Sun.

I read three paperback books in April with the rest of the books read on my Kindle.  I got two of those paperbacks from the library, but the other one was actually from a giveaway!  Yep, that’s right…I actually won a book giveaway on Goodreads!!!

Net Galley = 5
Public Library = 2
MCL = 2
Amazon (purchased) = 1
Goodreads Giveaway = 1
Author Website (free download) = 1

Although I only read 13 books last month, I actually read stories by 14 different authors because of Happy is the Bride being a compilation book.  Which was one of the three Kate Pearce books I read in April.  There were actually 7 new-to-me authors that I read last month; Sawyer Bennett, Susan Marshall, M.K. Schiller, and Susan Wigg were all novels while Lori Wilde, Cat Johnson, and Janet Dailey were all part of the compilation book.

I was able to get my hands on the next book in the Chicago Stars series so Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips was the oldest book I read in April.  It was published in 1997, before my baby Griffin was even conceived!

With my book count being down, of course my page count was down last month.  Some longer books still kept it somewhat respectable with 4,060 pages read in April.  Once a SEAL, the book I got from Kate Pearce’s website was the shortest with 100 pages. Summer at Willow Lake by Susan Wiggs was the longest at 543 pages.

My average star rating in April was over 4 stars!  I told you I had a month of good books.  Only one 5 star book, but only one that was under 4 stars.  Which is crazy with all of the new-to-me authors I read.

I only read two of the books I acquired in April; Truly, Madly, Whiskey by Melissa Foster and Once a SEAL by Kate Pearce.  (Have I told you how much I love Kate Pearce?)

Total books actually purchased in April = 2 (Both from Amazon with 1 of them read in April)

Total money spent on books in April = $4.98

Because some of the books I read in April were purchased before April, I actually spent $7.98 on books read. Partly because my book count was low and partly because I read a lot of ARCs.

As usual, most of my books were acquired following the links in my daily Book Bub email.  I got 131 of my 170 books by that means in April.  My Kindle First book for April was All the Lies We Tell by Megan Hart.  I got 10 free books following the links in the Just Add Spice newsletter.  I’ll tell ya, those Facebook ads haven’t stopped!  I got 6 free books following those links!  Which led me to another 11 free books on Amazon by scrolling down the page to see their “suggested titles”.  Net Galley supplied me with 8 ARCs.  Of course, I also got that book through the Goodreads giveaway.
