Well, I have to say I’m glad I stuck with this series. Each of the books was an improvement on the one before. I think this one hooked me much more quickly because I was already invested in Maddie and Brody from the previous books. Especially after things that happened in Strong and Sexy between the two of them.
After all of the waiting for the two of them to get together, then waiting for them to admit their feelings for each other, the ending seemed a bit abrupt. It was good, but I wanted more. I can’t pinpoint exactly what that “more” is, but I wanted it nonetheless.
I would have also liked more of Ben. We don’t get to know him very well, but from the little we are told and get to see he was an intriguing character. Yet I wasn’t crazy about Leena. Even after she grew a backbone there was just something about her that irked me. Maybe I felt protective of Maddie and felt that Leena didn’t appreciate all her sister was willing to do for her…I’m not sure.
So my quest to read the Jill Shalvis library (at least those I can find) will continue. I’ve found her older stuff has some peaches and some pits. But for some reason I keep slogging along. I absolutely love most of her current books and can’t help wanting to find those rare gems in with her older stuff.
