Out of all of the stories in this series so far, this is the sweetest.  Which is fitting since it’s a Christmas story.  There’s not a lot of conflict or butting of heads between Jud and Fiona like there was between Allie and Blake.  There wasn’t a bunch of denial as there was with Lizzy and Toby.  There was a sweet friendship that developed between Fiona and Jud that always had the undercurrent of sexual tension.

My favorite thing about this story wasn’t the new relationship between the hero and the heroine though.  It was the slow thaw that Jud got Truman to go through.  And the awakening of Dora June.  Boy oh boy I hated that couple in the previous books.  To see them soften and get some perspective of their life and relationship was very touching.

I’ve been reading a lot of books lately where the hero is just so darn perfect.  I don’t know what it is, but it’s been quite a few in a row (my reviews are not necessarily posted in the order I read the books due to publication dates and other factors).  Not that most heroes in most romances aren’t perfect in some way, but the last few have been beyond patient and kind.  I’m not complaining!  Just an observation.

Back to the sweetness of this story.  Although Fiona has been married before, I found it endearing that she blushes so often when it comes to Jud.  She even observes her own tendency to get flush and how it’s unlike her.  It gives her an innocence that is charming, because Fiona is in no way innocent.

I’m still in love with Deke and so excited he gets his story next.  Like it’s said toward the end of this story, he’s like the little brother of the family so the reverend may not be done with the Logan family yet!

4.5 stars
