For those of you who don’t know, this book part one of a two-part story.  Due to the length of this story, the author opted to divide it into two books and release them the same day.  So, to keep with her decision, I’m going to post my reviews on the same day.  But I’m getting my thoughts of this one down before continuing on to Intrigue Out of the Office so I can be sure to give you my thoughts on ONLY this first part in this review.

First, this book IS NOT for the faint of heart.  When I give this a XXX rating I really mean XXX.  That’s fine, and even great, for a lot of readers.  I know there are many out there that prefer their romance to be sweet and innocent though.  If you fall into the latter category this isn’t the story for you.  On the other hand, if you like steamy scenes with a lot of sizzle and some unconventional ideas when it comes to sex…you will LOVE this book.

When it comes to the chemistry between the characters in this book I cannot complain.  The heroine, Luci, connects with each of her bosses in some way.  All of those connections are different which keeps things more interesting.  The dynamic the four bosses have with each other works, and they all seem to respect and understand each other.

There is a side character, Jordan, that keeps me guessing.  How much does he know?  What is his personal life really like?  If those questions never get answered it will be okay though.  His relationship with Luci and his unflagging support of her make him a character to love no matter what.

There are things about Luci that I wasn’t crazy about in the first few chapters of this story.  If it’s the same for you, hang in there.  She really seems to grow up and, trust me, she does have a good brain in that head of hers.  It just takes a bit for it to become apparent to the reader.  By the end of this story I really was rooting for Luci and, in fact, I was crying about her situation since she had wiggled so far into my heart.

I don’t know that I’ve gotten to know all the bosses as well as I would have liked.  I feel there is so much more to learn about them all.  That seems to be a bit by design by the author.  If the reader is going to understand Luci we have to be as in the dark as she is about certain aspects of her situation.  That means not fully understanding what makes everyone tick.  As much as I feel Langston, and even Landon, are given a lot of time in the story, I’m still not sure what kind of arrangement they have.  Ben may actually be the most fleshed out, but there’s a HUGE question where he is concerned still.  Justin is the most mysterious from my point of view.  But they all seem to be wonderful, caring, and super sexy.

This book does not end in a cliff hanger, but the story is definitely unfinished.  The last couple of chapters really gave me all the feels, made me cry, and made me extremely glad I have the next book waiting for me.  Nicole Edwards made the right decision to release these stories on the same day so it doesn’t feel like a story interrupted.  She also ended this portion at the perfect spot.  As I said, the last chapters really ramped up the emotions without dangling into cliffhanger territory.  I have high hopes for the next book and getting more into the emotional aspect of the story from all angles.

4 stars
