I love, love, love Beck aka Trigger.  He is the sweetest hard-ass I think I’ve ever met.  The way Beck and Ashley understand each other on such a deep level isn’t even what won me over with him.  It is the way he is with little Adam.  It’s so touching how his instincts kick in with the little guy and turns him into a big teddy bear.

This is a very creepy and disturbing story.  The ordeal Ashley (and Adam) have been through is hair-raising.  She is so strong, even when she doesn’t feel like she’s being strong.  What I liked the best in this story is the way, although Ashley is easily spooked and wanting to run, she trusts Beck and doesn’t go off half-cocked when he reassures her.  Usually in this type of story the characters will totally leave law enforcement out of the picture.  Of course, the author couldn’t do that when Beck is a DEA agent.  But that’s even more reason I expected the local police to be left out of the loop.  I was pleasantly surprised when the hero and heroine didn’t try to resolve her issues in a bubble by themselves and instead were open to getting help…even with all of Ashley’s fears.

This story kept me turning the pages, eager to know what would happen next.  The action and intrigue were wonderfully interwoven with quiet moments for Beck and Ashley to get to know each other.  There’s also some time for us to get to know King a bit and his will be the next story.

Our youngest, Griffin recently left his active duty Army job and is now National Guard here at home. He moved back to Michigan with his wife Kirsten and our beautiful granddaughter Hazel.
