Wicked Cowboy Charm by Carolyn Brown Release Date: January 31, 2017 Publisher: Forever Contemporary Romance/Western M/F Book #4 of the Lucky Penny Ranch series Number of Pages: 336 Kindle Edition Source: MCL Rating: NC-17 Read 12/3/17 – 12/4/17
I’ve been waiting with anticipation since the first book in this series for Deke to get his HEA. Although he’s quite the rascal and never turns down a pretty lady, it’s been apparent from the beginning that the man has a heart of gold. This story went above and beyond my expectations for Deke. Always a gentleman, but not in any sort of fake or forced way. A sucker for babies and animals. Throw smoking hot on top of all that and you have a winner.
Josie is aware of Deke’s reputation but never gets judgy about it, even when she’s being cautious. To his credit, Deke fully understands the hesitation Josie has even while both of them cannot deny the fireworks that go off every time they’re even in the same room together. I think that was one of the things I enjoyed the most about this story…the slow burn between the H and h. Oh my goodness! I’m surprised they didn’t melt all the snow that surrounded them with their stolen glances alone! I spent this whole story in a state of warm-fuzzy-ness (yes, it’s a word!) and butterflies.
Just as in the last book, Merry Christmas Cowboy, I really enjoyed the element of the older couple that Josie and Deke get help from, while also helping said couple. The wisdom they are able to pick up from Everett and, later, Martha was priceless. Plus, being around other people while they were trapped by the snow made it easier to keep their fires banked for longer.
I’m really glad the author decided to spin this series into another one with more of the Dawson clan in another town. I’ve absolutely fallen in love with all of her characters and cannot wait to read more.
Oh, one last thing. Loved this line…”You read romance?” Josie gasped. “I read good books” was the reply from Everett.
