Random Ramblings #8

Hello friends!  I’m back again with another post to let you know what I’ve been up to lately.  There’s actually been a lot going on around here.

I was really hoping to post an Olympic roundup when all was said and done.  Unfortunately, I just didn’t find the time.  I started one but realized that by the time I did all I wanted to do with it we would be weeks after the Olympics were over so I decided I’d let it go.  Just know that, since we last touched base in Random Ramblings #7, I have watched hours upon hours of Olympic coverage and loved it all!

We’ve had a few birthdays around here since last month.  On the 1st, this guy turned 45 making him older than me for the next 10 months.

This is from last spring, but I don’t get a lot of pics of my man…he hates cameras!

This little guy turned 9 on March 6…that’s 52 in cat years.  He doesn’t look a day over 50!

Finally, this guy turned 24 on the 11th.  Gah!  He makes me feel so old!

Another older pic and it has terrible lighting, background, etc. It’s almost impossible to get the men in my family to allow you to take a picture. He did this one because his little cousin needed it for a family tree school project.

My mother-in-law continues to live on her own, but also continues to have health issues.  So I’m still spending a lot of time in waiting rooms and exam rooms.  In fact, she’ll be having another surgery next week so I’ll be spending a very long day at the hospital…armed with my books of course!  We’re all still trying to find the best way to navigate her need for transportation for grocery shopping and such.  I’ve taken to dropping her off and giving her 2 or 3 hours and picking her back up.  I’m able to run other errands or come home and do dinner prep or other things that need to be done around the house.  I’m sure we’ll soon be in such a groove with these things I won’t even think twice about it all.

In case you missed my February Book Stats post, I’ve come to the decision to discontinue that monthly post.  I’m still going to be keeping my own records so I can pop in and give you my monthly favorites and, at the end of the year, my year favorites.  But when it comes to number of books read, genres, etc. I don’t think many people beside me care for that information.  Plus, I post reviews for all of the books I read so I’m just recycling information I’ve already given to a certain extent.

Is anyone else sick of hearing about the Instant Pot? I may be being judgmental because I don’t have one, I don’t know.  I follow a lot of food blogs and have found that I’m skipping a lot of posts from a lot of my go-to blogs because they keep posting Instant Pot recipes.  I get it, it’s the fad right now.  But not everyone has the money or the space in their kitchen for that.  I know there are a lot of slow cooker recipes out there, too.  But you can get one of those for like $20 where it’s around $100 for an Instant Pot.

One last thing, I chopped my hair off!  I’ve been thinking of shaving my head for years, but even more the last 6 months or so.  We were watching a tv show and my husband commented on a character’s shaved head saying I should do that.  I had never really told him I seriously wanted to shave my head so I got kind of excited that he was on board.  Then, I just had to get the nerve up to do it.  I thought I’d get a bit anxious while in the stylist’s chair, but I didn’t.  I only felt joy and, oddly, relief.  Not all charities take grey hair for donations since most are for children, but the place I went is going to see if they’ll take it to sell off to help with their other costs.  It seems a shame to waste all that hair!

If you’ve been thinking about shaving your head…DO IT!  It’s so freeing!
