I really, really, really, really love this series.  And this story lives up to the rest of the books.  It was phenomenal.  Although this not is a friends to lovers story in the traditional sense, it still relies on that trope a little bit…one of my favorite tropes so I’m not complaining.

Jodie is probably my favorite heroine in the series because she (almost) never jumps to conclusions or makes crazy assumptions.  She’s blunt but sweet.  Sure, she doesn’t tell Reed about every single thought and fear she has regarding their relationships, but she doesn’t really have a filter either.  The way Reed and Jodie meet for the first time is wonderful.  The way they both react to the situation while ignoring “Barbie” cracked me up and instantly showed the chemistry that was to come.

As usual, Sawyer Bennett finds a way to turn Reed from a dog to a dreamboat.  His absolute certainty that Jodie will always go along with his plans should make him seem like a total smug jerk but instead make him a confident romantic.  He’s just such a great guy I couldn’t get annoyed with him when he would get high-handed.

Even when it has only been a few weeks between reading the books in the Cold Fury series, I miss the characters and the rhythm of the stories.  The things that happen with Reed’s teammate, Marek, at the end of this book has me even more anxious for the next story.  Holy cow!  There’s a lot going on there! Luckily, I was able to snag an ARC of the next story so I won’t have to wait until May. Unfortunately, there’s been a lot going on in my personal life and I have barely had time to read (gasp!).  Even at night I actually fall into bed so exhausted a barely get a chapter of whatever I’m reading at the time read before I’m out like a light.  I’ll tell you though, Marek is calling out to me!
