In the second book in the Love Under the Big Sky series, life in Montana gets spicy when a woman and her divorce lawyer sign off the papers—and sign on to love.

Now that his best friend, Josh, has happily settled down with his true love on a Montana ranch, small-town lawyer Ty Sullivan starts thinking that maybe single life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. And when Lauren Cunningham’s no-good ex-husband comes after her for an unexpected trust fund, Ty steps in to protect her. But soon he can’t help but think of her as more than a client. Lauren’s in no mood to jump into another relationship, so how can Ty convince her that her mistake wasn’t getting married, but marrying the wrong guy?

I am so happy that my first experience with this author wasn’t a fluke.  When a read Loving Cara I couldn’t put it down and stayed up all night reading.  The only reason that didn’t happen with this story is we got a new mattress and it’s super comfy.  Seriously though, another amazing story.

Although Lauren is introduced in the previous book, we don’t really know her the way we know Ty.  Turns out, she’s pretty amazing.  While I don’t think you HAVE to read the first book in the series to enjoy this story, it would definitely give you a better idea of the gangs relationship with Lauren.  Not to mention, it’s a 5-star read so why wouldn’t you?  Anyway, Lauren has had a lot of tragedy in her life, but she’s a pretty private person so not everyone realizes the things she’s gone through…and the things she’s still going through.  While she does just fine on her own, she’s a strong and independent woman, it was great to see her forge friendships with Ty’s friends and come out of her shell a bit.

I already knew Ty would be a keeper from the first book.  He’s caring and no-nonsense, but also funny and gorgeous.  What’s not to love?  Ty seems to slide into Lauren’s life seamlessly, and vice versa.  There is a lot of respect and admiration in their relationship so when Ty does a lot for Lauren it comes across as sweet and sexy instead of overbearing.  There really does seem to be a certain balance with them.

I’m glad Jillian and Cara welcomed Lauren into their fold with open arms.  There is a lot they could have blamed her for (again, read the first book!) but they were mature enough to know that she can’t control what those around her do.  And they also are mature enough to appreciate that she changed her situation when her old friends turned toxic.

I can’t wait to continue my journey with Kristen Proby. Two books into her library of work and she’s already shot to the top of my must-read list.

5 stars

*I was on the waiting list at MCL and it was automatically loaned to me when it became available, the same day I realized it was also on Kindle Unlimited and had borrowed it from there.  So an FYI if you have KU, this series is on there!!!
