Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Couples in Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  There is a new topic each week for bloggers to join in with their own top ten. If you’re looking for some new or different book blogs to read, hop on over to her site and check out some of the links.

I have plenty of picks for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday.  The theme is Favorite Couples in Books.  The problem I have is I tend to think of any couple I recently read about (if it’s a good book) as my favorite.  So, while I did think of some all time faves, you’ll notice a lot of the couples I chose are from books I read in the last year or two.

These are my picks, in no particular order…

Claire & Jamie
Book: Outlander
Book #1 in the Outlander series
Author: Diana Gabaldon

Long before the Starz series was even conceived, I read this book and fell in love. (I can’t tell you the exact year I read this story for the first time, but it was in the early part of the 21st century.) To be honest, this couple is not my favorite through every book in the series, but their dynamic in this particular story lands them in my top ten for sure.

Ethan & Beau
Book: Ethan
Book #5 in the Alluring Indulgence series
Author: Nicole Edwards

I don’t know how any fan of the Alluring Indulgence series couldn’t love Ethan and Beau.  This series is all around phenomenal and Nicole Edwards has not yet written a couple I don’t love, but I have a soft spot for this particular couple.  The author was kind enough to give us another book about them in her The Walkers of Coyote Ridge series titled…wait for it…Beau

Mal & Anne
Book: Play
Book #2 in the Stage Dive series
Author: Kylie Scott

Throughout both this series and the Dive Bar series, Mal is a favorite of mine.  His antics and hyper personality can get to be a bit much, but Anne understands him and helps keep him grounded.

Celaena & Chaol
Book: Throne of Glass
Book #1 in the Throne of Glass series
Author: Sarah J. Maas

This is the one I think I’ll get the most flack about.  I’ve learned over the years that people definitely have their “ships” when it comes to this series.  I’m picking this couple for this particular book, not the later books in the series where more characters come into play.  And no, I will not even consider Dorian for Calaena’s mate.  I’m team Chaol all the way!

Eddie & Susanna
Book: The Waste Lands
Book #3 in the The Dark Tower series
Author: Stephen King

This is another couple that has its ups and downs throughout the series.  But there’s a connection between these two that has me remembering them often.  To be fair, this category doesn’t specify that it has to be a romantic couple, but that’s where my mind went since I read majority romance.  This series has other favorite couples of mine, non-romance…Roland & Susanna and Jake & Oy all have such beautiful relationships.

Cyler & Laken
Book: Heart of a Cowboy
Book #1 in the Elk Heights Ranch series
Author: Kristin Vayden

From the start, it’s hard to figure how this couple will come together.  There’s not the usual animosity between them, it’s more about Cyler’s animosity with his father and Laken’s refusal to take sides.  Regardless of how they end up together, I’m happy they did.

Daisy & Alex
Book: Kiss an Angel
Author: Susan Elizabeth Phillips

This couple shouldn’t work, but they do.  I should hate Alex, but I don’t.  If you haven’t read any books by Susan Elizabeth Phillips yet, this would be a great on to start with.  Just be prepared to cry.

Mason & Kiran
Book: Eight Days in the Sun
Author: M.K. Schiller

This was the first book I read by this author and I am always intrigued by her work.  She is an amazing writer and she is always able to capture such heartfelt emotions.  It was hard to pick one favorite from her couples, but since these two were my first from her I think they deserve the honor.

Mac & Hank
Book: Cowgirl, Unexpectedly
Book #1 in the Lazy S Ranch series
Author: Vicki Tharp

When I started this book, I wasn’t even sure I liked Mac.  In fact, Hank was not exactly on my good side either.  But by the end (and through the other books in this series where they are peripheral characters) they ended up on my favorite couples list.

Bones & Sarah
Book: Wicked Whiskey Love
Book #4 in the The Whiskeys series
Author: Melissa Foster

I don’t believe I have made it any secret that I love Melissa Foster’s books.  This particular series is by far my favorite.  Although it’s not depressing, it is darker than the main offshoots of her Love In Bloom series.  I had a hard time choosing which Whiskey sibling is my favorite, but since Bones was the first one I met back in River of Love he won out.  If you don’t want to invest in the larger series by this author, do yourself a favor and at least read this series.  It will give you all the feels.

I’d love to hear a favorite of two from you.  I’m always on the lookout for stories with amazing chemistry.

  1. I loved Celena and Chaol but I fell for Rowan in book 3 so wasn’t too upset how things progressed… Even though it broke my heart a bit.

Jimmy and Lena are my fav Stage Dive couple. 🙂

I’m sure part of my love for Chaol comes from the fact that I’ve read the first book so many times. I reread the series each time a new book came out so he’s gotten the most time with me.

I read your picks and have to say, I can’t believe you still dislike Ben after reading the series! That’s why I love reading…there’s something for everyone.

  2. Louise says:

I’ve not read the books (yet? Maybe?) but even just from the tv series, I can completely understand why everyone ships Claire and Jamie. I’d imagine it’s even better in the books.
    My favourite couples this week.

  3. I’ve never actually read the Outlander books, but I love Claire and Jamie in the TV show.

I really need to read Outlander one of these days.

This is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
