TTT: Favorite Quotes from Books

TTT-NEW

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  There is a new topic each week for bloggers to join in with their own top ten. If you’re looking for some new or different book blogs to read, hop on over to her site and check out some of the links.

Technically, this week’s Top Ten Tuesday theme is Inspirational or Thought-Provoking Book Quotes. But as I was gathering up some of my favorite quotes I realized they’re not all necessarily inspiration or thought-provoking, but I love them all.  So instead you’re getting some of my favorite book quotes.  I have many favorites but decided not to take this one over a list of 10 this time.

“I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it.”
~Letter to My Daughter, Maya Angelou

“It was the possibility of darkness that made the day seem so bright.”
~Wolves of the Calla, Stephen King

“Isn’t it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”
~The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams

“I’ve always envied people who sleep easily. Their brains must be cleaner, the floorboards of the skull well swept, all the little monsters closed up in a steamer trunk at the foot of the bed.”
          ~City of Thieves, David Benioff

“She read books as one would breathe air, to fill up and live.”
          ~The Living, Annie Dillard

“Memory is so subjective. We all remember in a visceral, emotional way, and so even if we agree on the facts – what was said, what happened where and when – what we take away and store from a moment, what we feel about it, can vary radically.”
~Not My Father’s Son, Alan Cumming

“He didn’t like very many people. Because most people were idiots.”
          ~Want Me, Cowboy, Maisey Yates

“Nothing that’s awful is meaningless. If something is awful, it has power. It doesn’t matter if it’s true. It still has power.”
          ~The Sleepwalker, Chris Bohjalian

“Libraries were full of ideas – perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons.”
~Throne of Glass, Sarah J. Maas

“There’s something horribly unfair about dying the middle of a good story, before you have a chance to see how it all comes out. Of course, I suppose everyone always dies in the middle of a good story, in a sense. Your own story. Or the story of your children. Or your grandchildren. Death is a raw deal for narrative junkies.”
          ~The Fireman, Joe Hill

This theme was a lot of fun for me.  I just wanted to list quote after quote.  I love the way books speak to me and love sharing that with anyone who will listen.
