Janie Kayrs has known Zane almost her whole life. He was her friend in the dream world. She trusted him. But that was before he kidnapped her, spiriting her away to an isolated cabin to learn what her dreams never told her. Like how dangerous he looks. How he got on the wrong side of the negotiating table. And how much sexier he is in real life…

Zane is a battle-hardened warrior, used to command and solitude. But Janie has drawn him from the minute they met. His need for her could destroy everything he’s worked for, but the risk is too sweet not to take it. They call her the Chosen One. But when it comes down to the questions of peace or war, life or death, safety or passion, it will be Janie who makes the choice.

Here it is. The story we’ve all been waiting for.  The culmination of of years of “friendship” between Janie, Zane, and Kalin.  Who, if anyone, gets the girl? What is their fate, really?  Kalin has always been so sure Janie is fated to be his.  It’s what he’s been taught his whole life. Janie does not love Kalin and cannot condone the lifestyle he’s lived even if she did love him. Zane has made it clear that he cannot end up with Jane, that he is fated to be alone. Well fellow readers, I’m not going to tell you what happens.  You’ll just have to read this wonderful book on your own.

Yep, I’m now in the position of knowing what happens but being unable to write a thorough review without giving spoilers.  You know I hate spoilers, so this will be extremely vague and most likely quite short.

As usual, Rebecca Zanetti gives us lots of twists and turns.  Some I saw coming, a lot I did not, and things I was very sure I saw from a mile away were not as they seemed so I really didn’t see them at all.  I was not disappointed with the chemistry between characters or the love the inhabitants of The Realm show one another.  They are truly a wonderful family, those by blood and not by blood.  They stick together and have one another’s backs.

Gah!!! This is so hard to do.  Every turn of phrase I think of still give a hint of what’s to come.

There are some newly introduced characters I am looking forward to getting to know better.  It seems to me that when the author finished this book she was looking more toward there being a spin-off series rather than a continuation of this series.  Well, there’s both.  There’s a series called Realm Enforcers that was released a few months after this story was published.  But there are also a few novellas in the Dark Protectors series that were published here and there for a few years after this book was published.  Then, this year, this series was continued with more full length stories with more to come.  Yay! I figure I’ll do things my usual way and read them in order of publication, jumping back and forth between the two series.

There you go, my super vague thoughts on the story we’ve all been waiting for since Fated.  You’re going to love it!
