Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. There is a new topic each week for bloggers to join in with their own top ten. If you’re looking for some new or different book blogs to read, hop on over to her site and check out some of the links.
I waffled on if I was going to do a Top Ten Tuesday today, but since I skipped last week I figured I could come up with at least 5 entries for this week. The topic being Books on My TBR I’m Avoiding Reading and Why (submitted by Caitlin over at the book blog Caitlin Althea), and I have tons of books on my TBR. The reason most of them haven’t been read is time, no other mysterious reason. So I was hard pressed to figure out if I’d be able to come up with 5 let alone 10. I did it though!
Here are some books I actually have avoided reading, not just haven’t gotten to due to time and other bookish commitments.
These first two have been avoided due to their hype. I do the same with movies and tv shows. If everyone loves them and there is tons of hype, I’m always afraid my expectations will be too high and I’ll end up not enjoying a book that would have otherwise been amazing if I wasn’t so in my head about it.
The next two I actually have on my Kindle, but it seems it won’t be easy finding the subsequent books in the series they are part of. I have a limited budget for me books and it’s usually spent on pre-orders of my go-to authors.
Now some real talk. I have only read the first three books in the Throne of Glass series. Don’t misunderstand, I absolutely LOVE the books. In fact, I’ve re-read the first two a few times. Although I read Heir of Fire only a few months before Queen of Shadows was published, I didn’t have an opportunity to read it at that time. Then more and more time got away from me and I really want to do another re-read…but need to find the time. But truly, the main reason I’ve been putting it all off, I’m so invested in this story and Celaena’s love life (although that is not the main storyline of these books) and I’m so afraid I won’t like where the author goes with everything. So putting off reading these books (which I have on my Kindle, every single on of them!) has more to do with living in blissful ignorance of who (if anyone) Celaena ends up with in the end.
This week’s topic has really made me realize I have to bite the bullet and make a commitment to read these stories soon. I got excited about all of them just writing up this post!
I’m glad you decided to participate this week. And I didn’t realize that Paper Towns was part of a series.
My TTT.
It’s not a series. I guess I didn’t make my differentiation clear between which books I’m not reading for which reasons. Oops!
I haven’t read from Empire of Storms onwards either! I’m scared of the series ending haha.
Thank you for letting me know I’m not alone! lol
Throne Of Glass is on my list too.
My TTT
I still need to start the Throne of Glass series! It has been on my TBR way too long and almost made to top ten this week.
