TTT: Book Hangovers

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. There is a new topic each week for bloggers to join in with their own top ten. If you’re looking for some new or different book blogs to read, hop on over to her site and check out some of the links.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday was submitted by Deanna over at A Novel Glimpse.  It’s been about a month since I participated in TTT.  I’ve had a bit of a block when coming up with lists for the subjects lately.  Somehow, I was able to pull it together this time.  The subject is The Last 10 Books That Gave Me a Book Hangover.

For me, book hangovers come in different shapes and sizes.  Sometimes it’s because the book is extremely emotional.  Other times the story is just so good and I really connect with the characters.  So, while my list isn’t a bowl of laughs, there is humor in many of these stories.

Taming My Whiskey  by Melissa Foster

Taken  by Rebecca Zanetti

One Day in December  by Josie Silver

Now That You Mention It  by Kristan Higgins

Burning Dawn  by Gena Showalter

Hard to Hold on To  by Laura Kaye

Good Luck With That  by Kristan Higgins

When Dimple Met Rishi  by Menon Sandhya

The Wonder of Now  by Jamie Beck

Almost Just Friends  by Jill Shalvis

What I liked about this week’s subject is that it specified the “last ten” rather than “ten favorite”.  It was easy enough to take my list of books read and work backward.  While I know that part of the fun of this weekly feature is being able to mold the subjects to our own tastes and ideas, my brain hasn’t wanted to think outside the box lately. It was fun to get back into it this week.

About Cheri

I'm the mom of two boys and wife to my high school sweetheart. Our oldest, Josh, is living at home while working and paying off student loans. Our youngest, Griffin recently left his active duty Army job and is now National Guard here at home. He moved back to Michigan with his wife Kirsten and our beautiful granddaughter Hazel. I work part time and try to fit as much reading into my life as possible.

  1. I think there might be a sequel to Dimple.

There is! More than one. There’s a short story about the same main characters I haven’t yet gotten my hands on. But I recently got the next full length book through a Goodreads giveaway. Can’t wait to find time for it, and hope I’m not setting my expectations too high since I’ve only read the one book but this author so far.

I love the cover for Now That You Mention It.

    My TTT .

  3. You did better than I did! I couldn’t come up with any hangover books (although I know I’ve read some), so I did a different topic this week.

I haven’t read any of your picks, but ALMOST JUST FRIENDS sounds super cute.

    Happy TTT!

  4. Kristan Higgins’ newer books totally leave me with book hangovers, too. She taps into something emotionally that always gets me. Great list!

Yes! I realized I had more than one of her books on my list but couldn’t bring myself to choose one over the other. They’re both wonderful in different ways. Both equally fantastic.

This was a fun prompt, even though I haven’t read any of your books!

    Here’s my list:

  7. I honestly wasn’t a fan of When DImple Met Rishi…. I didn’t like either character. Great list, here’s mine:
