I have another podcast to rave about for this week’s Friday Favorites. Last time I told you about a podcast I was recommending a podcast as a whole, not a particular episode. Since I’ve only listened to two episodes of this one so far, I don’t feel I can recommend it that same way…yet. So far I’m loving it, though. What I want to recommend is a particular episode of this podcast.
I’ve been a long time fan of Josh and Chuck over at Stuff You Should Know and occasionally will drop in on Chuck’s solo podcast, Movie Crush. That’s where I first heard about the podcast Minnie Questions with Minnie Driver. Now, I’ve always loved Minnie Driver. When I lived in California and my younger sister was still in school, she’d come out to visit every year and it was our tradition to watch Circle of Friends together at least once. (Come to think of it, I haven’t watched that one in a long time.) And have you seen the (now canceled) sitcom Speechless? So much fun and heart! Of course I wanted to check out Ms. Driver as a podcast host.
I listened to the episode where she interviewed Chuck first, since he had a bit of the interview on his show and I wanted to hear the whole thing. Then I started from the beginning. Get ready for this folks. Her first episode was Viola Davis! What?!? And let me tell you, it’s phenomenal. Viola Davis is a treat.
The interview starts of interesting and wonderful and so interesting. I loved listening to two strong women discuss their craft. Eventually there is a deeper dive and Ms. Davis had me in tears. It’s truly a beautiful and inspirational podcast.
I’m not going to say more since these episodes are only about a half hour and I want you to enjoy the interview for yourself, feel your own emotions and form your own opinions. Just know that I highly recommend you listen to Viola Davis’ episode on Minnie Questions with Minnie driver.
**Quick note: The latest episode of the podcast is with guest Alan Cumming, who was Minnie Driver’s costar in Circle of Friends. I cannot wait to give it a listen. He’s had such an amazing career and life and I’m sure these two have some stories to tell of their early acting days together.
