Friday Favorites – 12/24/21 (Merry Christmas Eve!)

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. Christmas Eve is the day my family traditional gathers. For the second year in a row, we’ve decided to forgo the bigger celebration and have smaller gatherings. We’ll do the same as last year; my mom, our sons, our daughter-in-law, and our granddaughter. All but the little one vaxxed and careful.

Last Friday we went to the Detroit Zoo to experience their Wild Lights. You can never predict what a 2 year old will do, and it just wasn’t her favorite day. So it wasn’t the relaxing stroll through the zoo at night we envisioned, but it was still beautiful and I don’t regret the trip. I decided to include it in today’s Friday Favorites because I am a fool for Christmas lights. I always enjoy driving around the local neighborhoods and seeing what people have come up with. From seeing a lit tree through a front window to the lawns and houses decorated from top to bottom, I love it all!

I took mostly video since the pictures didn’t do the decorations at the zoo justice, but I’m not very adept here and don’t know how to post a video. But here are a couple of blurry pics from the night. I wish my pictures of the lions and dolphins and hummingbirds and all of the other animals made up of lights would have turned out better. Trust me, the Detroit Zoo puts on a beautiful show with these lights.

Griffin, Hazel, and Kirsten

Ya’ll, don’t let her fool you. Take another look and you’ll see the little peanut is not quite smiling so much as whining. She loved the lights, but didn’t want to walk, go in the wagon, or be carried.

I hope you and yours have a peaceful and safe holiday.

About Cheri

I'm the mom of two boys and wife to my high school sweetheart. Our oldest, Josh, is living at home while working and paying off student loans. Our youngest, Griffin recently left his active duty Army job and is now National Guard here at home. He moved back to Michigan with his wife Kirsten and our beautiful granddaughter Hazel. I work part time and try to fit as much reading into my life as possible.
