Spell the Month in Books – October 2022

My inspiration for my Spell the Month in Books posts came from Reviews from the Stacks, where they host a monthly linkup on the second Saturday of every month. Although I don’t follow their timeline of posting or really join any linkup, I believe in giving credit where credit is due. I saw several different bloggers participating and that led me to their posts.

Well, Fall in Michigan sure came blustering in and letting itself be known! No kidding. It was high temps in the upper 80s on September 19, then high in low 60s on September 20. I’m starting to see my breath on my morning walks! It’s much colder than it has been the last few years at this time. Usually we get one more burst of summer-like weather in October, it’ll be interesting to see if that happens this year.

September was a busy month around here. Our granddaughter turned 3! (Her birthday part is this weekend so we’re hoping the weather is nice enough for her and her cousins to be able to play outside.) We baked together for the first time, muffins for papa. She also started school, a special program 2 days a week that is sort of a pre-preschool type thing because of her speech delay. Her daddy, my youngest son took a trip to the UK with the Army. My husband got Covid-19 which led to…you guessed it…me getting Covid-19. Two and half years we were able to avoid it! Ugh! Of course, it was while my son was gone and we weren’t able to help our daughter-in-law out with the toddler. We were very careful, but I knew it would be a miracle if I didn’t get sick in our little ranch house. Thankfully we have a basement and that’s where our oldest son’s room is so he was able to avoid us and we all wore masks and he didn’t get sick. Oh, I also got to wear a fun heart monitor for a month. That was a pain and I feel my issues aren’t related to my heart, but I also know they have to rule everything out. I’m so glad I’m done with that and I can, once again, lay on my stomach when in bed!

Let’s get to my books. I tried to pick out some books that have an autumn vibe. They’re all books I rated highly. You can click on the title of each book to be taken to my review. (Fair warning: a few only have very brief reviews on Goodreads.)

About Cheri

I'm the mom of two boys and wife to my high school sweetheart. Our oldest, Josh, is living at home while working and paying off student loans. Our youngest, Griffin recently left his active duty Army job and is now National Guard here at home. He moved back to Michigan with his wife Kirsten and our beautiful granddaughter Hazel. I work part time and try to fit as much reading into my life as possible.
