TTT: Favorite Books of 2023

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. There is a new topic each week for bloggers to join in with their own top ten. If you’re looking for some new or different book blogs to read, hop on over to her site and check out some of the links.

Holy cow! I read so many great books in 2023. There were 48 that I rated at 5 stars! Am I getting nicer in my old age or did I just curate a better bunch of books? I feel like I DNF’d more than usual, which still wasn’t a lot, and that helps free up time for books I enjoy. I also finally found my groove with audiobooks in the last half of the year and that means I’m reading more books now. But the problem is, how do I whittle this down to my 10 favorites? For last year’s favorites, I did 10 for books published that year and 10 for those published in previous years and listed the few leftovers. I’ll have much more than a few left over, but I’m going to at least stick to the 10 new and 10 previous format to give you 20 in total.

As most avid readers know and understand, my favorites can change day by day depending on my mood. That’s why I hate giving you only the top 20 when I have more than twice that rated as 5 stars. But sometimes we must make hard choices. I helped slim things down by taking out duplicate authors. Seriously, this list would be very Kirsten Callihan and Elizabeth Hoyt-heavy if I hadn’t kept it to one title per author!

Clicking on the title will take you to my review if you’re interested in learning more about any of the following books. So here they are. My favorite books of 2023.

Time to Shine by Rachel Reid

Hunt on Dark Waters (Crimson Sails #1) by Katee Robert

I’m feeling bad for leaving so many fantastic reads off my list. I may try to do another post at a later date to share the rest of my favorite books from 2023. I can’t wait to see what everyone else loved last year, although I know it won’t be great for my TBR!

About Cheri

I feel the same way. It’s so hard to pick favourites!

Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

  2. I love seeing Callihan’s, Reid’s, and Madden-Mills’s book on here! I loved them as well. Happy 2024!

Honestly, if I would have included re-reads I would have also had a lot of Reid on there. I don’t generally do re-reads, but went back to her Game Changers series now that I’m on board with audiobooks and fell in love all over again.

  3. 48 5-star books is amazing! Sounds like a pretty great year of reading. I just love Bennett’s Pittsburgh Titans series and Camden was a great addition.

I haven’t read any of these, but I’m glad you loved them all. And, I love that you had so many 5-star reads. Happy 2024!

  6. It’s awesome that you read 48 5-star books. I can see why it would be hard to choose 10. Have a great 2024!
